As The Dark Knight continues its amazing performance at the box-office, three wide releases and two independents dare to go against it in its third weekend.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is the third film in the franchise. But it’s been 7 years since the last installment, Rachel Weisz isn’t reprising her role, and this looks very similar to Brendan Fraser’s other summer flick Journey to the Center of the Earth, which was in 3D. So this Mummy might not do as well as expected.
Swing Vote looks like a Fall movie being released in the Summer. The trailers are unappealing, and with no real bankable stars, this little film doesn’t seem to stand the chance.
The first trailer for Midnight Meat Train was released at last year’s Comic Con. The release date has been bounced around, and the distributor now wants a small theatrical run followed by a quick DVD release. This film has suffered over immature and selfish management, which has taken away its chance of success. Pretty sad, considering it looks pretty good.
On the independent front are Frozen River and In Search for a Midnight Kiss. Frozen River tells the story of two women – one white, one Mohawk – who are drawn into the world of border smuggling across the frozen water of the St. Lawrence River. In Search for a Midnight Kiss is a love story that takes place on New Year’s Eve.
So the verdict is, The Dark Knight will once again come out on top, with The Mummy 3 behind it as a close second.
The Dark Knight is the best Batman movie ever made. Unless you hate yourself go and see this movie. Even if your not into the Batman series you will still like this movie, it’s that good. The Dark Knight isn’t just a movie, it’s an event. Don’t miss it.
